CAR RETURNED DAMAGED

May Have Crashed Into Tree

A 1955-model Holden car, painted light yellow, belonging to the Christchurch Press Company, Ltd., was extensively damaged when it apparently skidded and crashed into a tree after it had been removed from a parking lot in Worcester street on Saturday evening. The damage, confined mainly to the right side, is estimated at £175. The car was found yesterday morning in the parking lot from which it was taken about 10.30 p.m. on Saturday. The car can be driven only with difficulty. Blood is spattered on the windscreen above the driver’s seat, and there are bloodstains on other parts of the car. The right rear mudguard is almost torn off, and there is a large dent in the body above this wheel, which is out of alignment The bodywork was also pushed out of alignment and neither door on the right side nor the boot will close. Small fragments of bark were found adhering to the crumpled metal. The car was parked in the lot shortly after 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, and is believed to have been returned early yesterday morning. The registered number is 336-520. The police want to interview the driver or any persons who may have seen the accident
