YACHT MOORINGS AT AKAROA
Fishermen Promise Help The Akaroa Fishermen’s Association would do all it could to co-operate in helping yacht and launch owners to get moorings at Akaroa, said the association’s president (Mr T. G. Longdin). commenting on the Harbour Board’s discussion on the provision of moorings in the Lyttelton harbour area. Mr Longdin said that over the last two or three years, upwards of 20 yacht and launch moorings had been established at Akaroa The owners of the boats did not live in Akaroa, and mostly came from Christchurch. He said he noted that the Harbour Board had a waiting list of 41 for pleasure boat moorings There was ample space at Akaroa. oarticularly near the small wharf, where owners could establish the°r own moorings. The Fishermen's Association had been active in pressing the Akaroa County Council to assume control of mooring sites, and he understood negotiations were proceeding with the Marine Department. In the meantime, the Fishermen's Association would be glad to guide those who wanted to bring their boats to Akaroa.
