FLORAL DISPLAY IN CITY

Attractive Exhibits On River Bank Beauty and ingenuity are combined in most of the floral • et pieces oh display on the river bank opposite the Y.M.C.A. They range from the imposing coat of arms from the reserves department of the Christchurch City Council to the compact and effective exhibit from the Christchurch Model Aero Club with its aeroplane of red and yellow flowers. The Bridge to Beyer Hearing, in white flowers, from the League of Hard of Hearing, probably attracted special attention when the display opened yesterday. Other prominent exhibits are those of Millers, Ltd., in which the firm’s building is represented in daisies, asters, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and lilies; the Fendalton Open . Air School eighty-fifth anniversary with the initials picked out in everlasting flowers on a background of black leaves; and the Red Cross Society’s red cross on a blue ground.

The exhibit of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament emphasises its views in blues, yellows and reds. The National Party Garden Centre, the New Zealand W.C.T.V., the New Zealand Country Women’s Institutes, the Women’s Section of the R.S.A. and the I.G.A. all have attractive exhibits with their appropriate symbols or initials. The Wishing Well is a prominent feature of the display. The display, which is part of floral festival week, is illuminated each evening. *
