BURNSIDE
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, February 24.
The fat cattle yarding numbered 306 at today’s Burnside sale, and this number appeared to be a little above requirements. Values could be quoted £2 to £3 below last week, when 252 beasts were yarded. The quality of the yarding was not outstanding, and heifers were in oversupply. Had it not been for some outside competition the values may have dropped further. Butchers had a better selection of fat lambs, 447 being yarded, compared with 139 last week. While there was. a steady demand, a drop of 2s to 3s was recorded on last week's prices. The total of 4852 fat sheep would be the largest entry for a number of years, but surprisingly there was little change in values for all classes.
