OYSTER SEASON

Bad Weather Delays Start

(New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, February 15. Those eagerly awaiting the first of the season’s oysters will have to wait at least another day. Unfavourable weather kept the boats in port at Bluff today. Even if the weather clears during the day the boats do not go out after 8 a.m. At midnight last night a gale was blowing at Puysegur Point. It had dropped considerably by this morning but it was considered that conditions would still have been unfavourable for working the west beds. Last season, the oystermen missed two perfect days at the start of the season because of negotiations about the new season’s price. The boats left port on the third day.
