RAIN INTERRUPTS COAST TOURNEY

GREYMOUTH, Feb. 15. The first round of matches in the West Coast Bowling Centre’s Centennial Fours tournament was played on five district greens in fine weather this morning, but the second round games were interrupted by rain. Most matches in all sections were extremely closely contested. Results of first round matches were:— Section A.—Wins: Hughes (Greymouth), King (Dobson), Ware (Cobden), Boyd (Blackball), McNeill (Rangiora), Windleburn (Blenheim). Losses: Pragnell (Karoro), Lyall (Blaketown), Neill (Cashmere), Howe (Nelson), Butts (Westport R.S.A.), Courtenay (Canterbury). Section B.—Wins: Brown (Greymouth), Smith (Greymouth), Stokes (Cobden), Jones (Karoro), Dempsey (Avon), Smith (Sydenham). Losses: Freitas (Blaketown), Dodds (Blackball), Round (Riccarton), Moss (Nelson), Blair (Westport), Kirk (Tskaka) Section C.—Wins: Macdonald (Greymouth), Batty (Karoro), Longstaff (Blaketown), Jennison (Blackball), Merritt (Nelson), O’Brien (Westport). Losses: Cowan (Dobson), Familton (Gore), Hanger (Cobden), Woodhouse (Stoke), Priest (Sumner), Havill (Hokitika). Section D.—Wins: Bellamy (Cobden). Bates (Havelock), Monopoli (Nelson), Wadsworth (Stoke), Joseph (Barrington). Carter (Hokitika). Losses: Denton (Greymouth), Innes (Greymouth R.S.A.), Sadler' (Karoro), Brennan (Blaketown), Pascoe (Blackball), Neame (Woolston). Section E—Wins: Lindley (Greymouth), White (Runanga), Roberts (Canterbury), Caldwell (Mona Vale), Buckley (St. Martins), McEnaney (Westport), Stevenson (Hokitika).
