Sparkler has been nominated for the £l5OO Awapuni Gold Cup. a mile and a quarter event at weight-for-age to be run on the second day of the Manawatu Racing Club’s autumn meeting on March 12. This is a week before the £4500 Autumn Handicap of two miles on the opening day of the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting. Sparkler has not raced since he ran second to Jalna in the Wellington Cup last month, but he has done welk since he returned to Wingatui.
