LONDON, Jan. 20. The population of the Soviet Union increased in 1959 by 3,660,000, making a total population of 208,826,000, according to Moscow Radio.
The present average life span of 67 years—more than twice as long as before the 1917 revolution—was one of the best in the world, it said. The death rate was the world’s lowest.
