Soviet Strength “Not Reduced”

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, January 20. The Commander-in-Chief of Soviet Forces, Marshal Rodion Malinovsky, claimed in a speech published today that his forces had enough rockets and nuclear weapons to “literally wipe off the face of the earth” any country or countries which might attack the Soviet Union.

The Marshal told officers of the Moscow garrison yesterday that proposed cuts in Soviet forces would “in no way reduce their might or their firepower.” “Our army has such military techniques, such firepower as no army has ever had before,” he said.
