MATAMATA, January 19.
Stylish Officer, one of the New Zealand horses invited to Sydney for the International Stakes next spring, has been purchased by a Sydney man, according to his part-owner Mr W. Sexton, of Hamilton. Stylish Officer will have to pass the usual veterinary tests before being shipped to New South Wales. He will enter Ryan’s Randwick stable. He is a five-year-old by Able Seaman from Sporting Mark and has proved a hardy and most consistent horse. He has mastered every sort of ground and won up to a mile and a half in good handicap class, including a Waikato Cup under 8-13. At his last start he won the mile and a quarter Clifford Plate at Ellerslie under weight-for-age. Stylish Officer has since been restricted to light exercise at Te Awamutu by his trainer, A. Cook.
