Cabinet Defers Appointment

SYDNEY. January 19. The New South Wales Cabinet today deferred appointment of a successor to the retiring Chief Justice (Sir Kenneth Street) After the Cabinet met today, the Premier (Mr R. J. Heffron) announced the aopointment had' not been discussed. The matter would be taken up at next Tuesday's meeting, he added. The Federal Labour Opposition Leader (Dr. Herbert Evatt) has been widely tipped for the position.
