Rejection Of Paintings

Sir, —R.H.F. writes that the council has only itself to blame for much of the criticism levelled at it in this affair. How much criticism? I would venture to say that 99 per cent, of the general public would be more likely to applaud the councillors’ action.

The people just do not want meaningless contemporary pictures, and those councillors are aware of it. —Yours, etc., NO PRETENCE. January 11, 1960.
