MAN DROWNED AT SEA
Dinghy Capsizes Off Plimmerton
(Neu. Zeaiana Press Association, WELLINGTON, January 10. A man was drowned when his 15ft sailing dinghy overturned in high seas off Plimmerton on Friday. He was Keith Alexander McLennan, aged 37, of Motuhara road, Plimmerton. Mr McLennan did not return on Friday night and a search began for him yesterday. His boat was painted white with a red line round the top and was fitted with greenish sails. It did not have a motor. A light was sighted at the north end of Mana Island yesterday morning and it was thought possible Mr McLennan could have been sheltering. A launch carrying police went to check but in the meantime a National Airways Corporation aircraft sighted an overturned dinghy off Kapiti Island and 10 miles off the coast A launch that left Plimmerton and another which left Foxton to inspect the dinghy later reported that the overturned craft was Mr McLennan’sHis body has not yet been recovered.
