Menace To Swimmers
Speedboats and water-skiers were proving a menace to swimmers, said the general manager of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr A. C. Clarke. He threatened to prosecute offenders. After complaints, the board has appointed beach wardens to police trouble spots on the Waitemata and Manukau. A bylaw forbids speedboats or water-skiers from travelling at more than five miles an hour within 200 yards of the edge of the water or of any wharf or jetty. A similar prohibition exists within 100 feet of any vessel or of any person bathing.
