Army Engineers Leave Sydney

(New Zealand Press Association! SYDNEY, January 8. Aid for hurricane-devastated Port Vila left Richmond Royal Australian Air Force station, Sydney, in a Hercules transport today. It was the first of several flights that will be made in the next few days. The transport carried 30 Army engineers who will assist local authorities in reconstruction work. ; Also aboard the giant aircraft for the 1500-mile flight were an Army utility vehicle, a 30cwt trailer, a . tank containing several thousand gallons of fresh water, medical supplies and 1600 feet of plastic pipe. Two cyclones last week almost wrecked the port, which is in the New Hebrides islands.
