COMMONWEALTH TOURNAMENT

Mr Roberts’ Report To

N.Z. Council

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 10. There would be a recommendation that at least, one more Commonwealth golf tourney be planned, Mr G. P. Roberts, the chairman, told today's meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association council.

Mr Roberts, who was manager of the New Zealand team to Johannesburg, said there was some confusion in South Africa as to New Zealand’s decision on the issue.

As long as the spirit that prevailed at the last tourney existed, this country “must do . its part to see that the tourney continues," he said. It was of great benefit to the participating countries. The next tourney would be played in either Australia or New Zealand.

“In view of the extensive planning needed, I personally feel it should be played in Australia. However, it may be held in New Zealand,” Mr Roberts said.
