Obituary MISS E. W. CRUMP
The death occurred at Tauranga recently of Miss Eva Ward Crump, a grand-daughter of the Rev. Thomas Buddle, an early missionary. . She was 90. Miss Crump was the third daughter born to the Rev. John Crump and his wife Mary Anna. Mr Crump was at one time minister of St. Albans Methodist Church and later transferred to the Sydenham Methodist Church. Miss Crump was educated at the Normal School and the Sydenham School. Later she lived in Nelson, Blenheim and. together with her elder sister, as teacher and pupil, she attended the then newly-eEtablished Methodist College at Melbourne. Miss Crump was a receptionist at Wairaki and a teacher at her sister’s ladies’ college at Ballarat. In London she taught English to a princess of the Royal family of Siam, she took part in a London election and became a member of the London Philharmonic Society under Kennedy Scott. When she returned to New Zealand. Miss Crump joined the Wellington Choral Society under John Bishop and Stanley Oliver.
