Lawn Tennis VICTORIAN TITLES
Fraser To Play Emerson (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Dec. 4. N. Fraser and R. Emerson will meet in the final of the Victorian singles championship tomorrow. Both were carried to four sets in the semi-finais yesterday, when Fraser beat M. Mulligan and Emerson beat R. Mark. In the women’s doubles, the topseedaid pair. Christine Truman (Britain) and Maria Bueno (Brazil) had a win in straight sets. Miss Truman’s tennis, although good at times, was not so convincing as in her singles win over Miss Jan Lehane yesterday. Results:— „ , _ Men’s Singles.—Semi-finals: Emerson beat Mark, 6-4. 6-2, -3-6, 6-1; Fraser beat Mulligan, 6-4, 10-8. 4-6, Women’s Doubles. —Semi-finals: Lorrain Coughlan and Margaret Smith beat Jan Lehane and Margaret Hellyer. 6-2. 6-2; Maria Bueno and Christine Truman beat Mary Hawton and Fay Muller, 7-5, 6-3. Mixed Doubles.—Semi-final: Howe and Miss Bueno beat K. Fletcher and Miss Lehane, 6-1. 6-3.
