TROTTING IN SOUTHLAND
Centralisation “Impracticable” "The Press” Special Service INVERCARGILL, November 20. Any move to centralise trotting in Southland is considered impracticable at present. This was the feeling of delegates of all Southland trotting clubs—lnvercargill, Gore, Winton, Wyndham and Wairio—who discussed the issue at Invercargill last night. The meeting was held at the reSuest of the Southland Trotting wners, Trainers and Breeders’ Association. and called by the Inver-
cargill Trotting Club. It was decided to inform the association that while the meeting was sympathetic to the centralisation move, it was considered impracticable. Delegates dis, cussed at length the chance of providing smaller tracks, and clubs in a position to do so intimated that every attempt would be made to provide smaller trotting circuits. The desirability of a move to get maiden races off the programmes at totalisator meetings was considered in an attempt to provide for further classes and to keep horses racing longer in Southland. It was mentioned that the formation of nontotalisator trotting clubs could go a long way to alleviating the question of maiden races. *
