SOUTH AFRICAN ITINERARY
Time-Table May Be Changed
(From' Our Own Reporter)
WELLINGTON, November 20. Because of a recent change of timetables used t by South African Airways, the itinerary for the South African tour next year may be altered again. The New Zealand Rugby Union was seeking a .period of at least six days in South Africa before the first match was played against Northern Universities, but the change in timetable miy now mean that the team would not arrive in South Africa until four days before this match.
The council at its meeting yesterday decided to ask the airways to revert to the earlier flight, which would have given the team six days* rest, or as an alternative, that the Northern Universities match should not be played until the week of the first test. This would mean that the first match of the tour would be against Natal,' on May 31. The New Zealand trials will be held during Easter week-end. The first trials will be on Saturday, April 16, the second on April 18, and the final trials on Thursday, April 21. At the conclusion of these trials the team will be announced. On its way to South Africa the team will play on three days in Australia. Each of the players will take part in at least two matches to be held in New South Wales on Saturday, May 14, and in the New South Wales country areas on Tuesday, May 17. The team will leave from Perth after one match there. , An eight-panel ball, similar to those to be used in South Africa, will be used at the New Zealand trials and in Australia a similar ball will be sought for matches there.
