Board To Charge For Reports
A charge was fixed by the Christchurch Drainage Board last evening for investigations and reports on sections and their suitability for sullage disposal. A fee of £5 a section up to 10 sections in the same subdivision and £3 a section thereafter was approved by the board.
The work was making extensive demands on the board’s staff, the policy committee said. “The investigations and reports will be of such importance to the owners and subdividers concerned that it is imperative that they be based on the most accurate and extensive tests, as conditions vary considerably, even over a relatively small area," the committee said.
The additional work involved in reporting on sullage disposal, sewerage facilities and levels was affecting the work of the planning section in its main task of planning new sewer contracts, the committee said. The board agreed with its recommendation that a qualified assistant engineer should be sought.
