RATING AREA EXTENDED
Peerswick And Hoon Hay
The Peerswick and Hoon Hay areas, the first two on the list of priorities, will be included in the Christchurch Drainage Board’s No. 5 rating area from next April. Originally it had been intended that all areas covered by the second stage reticulation programme should be brought into loan rating from April, a special committee reported. Financial provision would have to be made to meet loan charges on portions of the loan to be raised during the year. The decision to include the first priorities in a Stage II reticulation loan, with a consequent increase in the amount of that loan to more than £1 million, reopened the question of how many of the areas should be rated next year.
“It will obviously be some years before the loan is fully raised and the lower Stage II priorities sewered, but in the meantime the early priorities should be rated, as considerable major works loan expenditure has already been incurred for their direct benefit,” the committee added.
