JAPAN BUDGETS FOR IMPORTS

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) TOKYO, September 30. The Japanese Government today said that it had decided to budget for imports of goods during the last six months of the 1959 financial year, covering October to March, 1960, totalling 2,328.000,000 United States dollars. This compares with 1,941,000.000 dollars for the first six months of the same financial year, and 1,757,000,000 dollars for the last six months of the 1958 financial year. The Government said the new import budget was the largest since the war. The Government also said that the increase reflected the growth of mining and manufacturing production in Japan in the 1959 financial year by 23.2 per cent, over the production in 1958.
