NEW YORK GANGS
Many Youths Arrested (Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK. Sept 24. Police seized 27 youths in the Bronx late last night to head off a new attack in the gang warfare that took the life of a 16-year-old boy on Monday. Officers impounded a deadly arsenal of the kind of weapons employed in the savage violence of juvenile gang warfare—nine “Molotov cocktail" fire bombs, a shotgun with 2 shells, a box of .22 calibre bullets, and two hunting knives. Six youths who had the weapons told police they were waiting for members of the "Valiant Crowns” gang to avenge the slaying of John Guzman, who was shot dead on Monday by a member of a rival gang. the "Royal Knights.” Both gangs are mainly Puerto Rican.
