KHRUSHCHEV CRITICISED

U.S. Labour Hits At Policies

iISi.Z Press Association—Copynqhti

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21

The American labour movement charged today in a formal resolution that Mr Khrushchev was following tougher policies than Stalin.

The resolution was adopted at the national convention of the A.F.L.-C.1.0. while Mr Khrushchev was sightseeing in San Francisco. “Mr Khrushchev had been more truculent and demanding in his aggression than Stalin.” the resolution said. “The present Kremlin course towards the problem of German reunification and Berlin is far tougher than the harshest proposals put forward under Stalin.”

The A.F.L.-C.1.0. said: “The first task confronting our country is to strengthen its own capacity and readiness to deter and, if the need be, defeat a military aggression.”

After unanimous approval of the resolution, the president (Mr George Meany) opened a new attack on the Russians, calling for them to “free the slaves.” Mr Meany, who refused to attend last night’s dinner with Mr Khrushchev, urged the A.F.L.C. 1.0. leaders to heed the acts of the Soviets, not the jovial smiles of Mr Khrushchev. “Let them free the slaves,” Mr Meany said. “Then we can trust them, then we can believe them.”

The resolution rejected Mr Khrushchev’s latest proposal for full disarmament.
