Fined For Allowing Oil To Escape From Ship

For permitting oil to escape into the inner harbour, Henry Faulkner, master of the overseas ship Coptic (Mr J. R. Woodward) was fined £25 by Mr A. P. Blair, S.M., in the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Mr C. G. Penlington, who appeared for the Lyttelton Harbour Board, said that the amount of oil was not large and had been cleared by members of the crew without the help of the harbourmaster's staff.
