Bigamist Gaoled
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, September 16. Appearing for sentence on a charge of bigamy, George Vass, aged 46, a labourer, was gaoled for three months by Mr M. C. Astley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today. The Magistrate said he had to impose a prison sentence but would mitigate it as much as possible. There had been little distress to the injured woman and probably the second "wife” knew about Vass's martial status before they had gone through the form of marriage.
