NEW SYSTEM FOR TRAFFIC

Carlton Mill Road Scheme

The new traffic system on the block bounded by Carlton Mill road and Rhodes and Rossall streets is “going very well,’’ according to the Traffic Superintendent of the Christchurch City Council (Mr G. P. Kellar). Mr Kellar said yesterday that all those he had spoken to had applauded the new system. Under the scheme traffic travelling away from the city uses Carlton Mill road turning into Rossall street at Millbrook reserve. Inward traffic turns left into Rhodes street and then into Carlton Mill road. The scheme, which came into operation last week, is subject to a three months trial agreed to by the City Council and the Waimairi County Council.
