INSTANT TEA
New Product In Britain (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, September 16. After instant milk and coffee comes instant tea. One of the biggest advertising campaigns in the history of the tea trade will begin soon in Britain to promote the sale of “pure soluble tea” in a glass jar with a plastic top.
Housewives will be told there is no brewing, no stewing, no tea leaves, no waste. The potential market is regarded as enormous for the average Briton drinks six cups daily and the nation spends about £l9O million a year on tea —or half the tea exported in the world. Success or failure of the campaign is expected to be known by Christmas.
