TAX OFFENCES ADMITTED
Cook Fined £52
CNew Zeatana Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 13. Robert John Beasley, aged 30, a cook, was convicted and fined £52 by Mr J. S. Hanna, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court. He pleaded guilty to 14 charges of failing to account for tax deductions and nine charges of aiding and abetting the Cafe Montmarte. Ltd., in a similar offence.
Mr J. D. Murray, for the Inland Revenue Department, said the 1+ charges of failing to account for P.A.Y.E. tax deductions were in relation to wages paid by Beasley to a waiter at the time he was carrying on a business known as “Monsieur Robert.” The total amount in those charges was £ll6 2s lOd. In the nine charges of aiding and abetting, the amount involved was £270 10s 4d. said Mr Murray. Mr Murray said that at the time of his recent bankruptcy, Beasley was in debt to the extent of £ 10,000.
