THREE-DAY WAIT FOR CREW

Navua Delayed Al Auckland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. September 4. The Union Steam Ship Company’s coaster Navua sailed for Lyttelton and Dunedin at 230 p.m. today after a three-day delay caused by a shortage of crew. Five seamen refused to sign on for a further six-month period when the ship’s articles expired this week. The men had complained about the food that was being served on board. The manager of the Union Company, Mr W. A. Smith, said tonight that the Navua sailed with a full crew.
