Fading Tohungas

Tohungas, Maori priests and healers of former days, are on the way out. according to the Rt. Rev., W. N. Panapa, Bishop of Aotearoa. European “tohungas”—colour therapists and others —have taken their place. Bishop Panapa made this claim at .a conference of Maori leaders in Auckland. “Tohungas are fading away,” he said.‘“They are no cause for worry.”
