KAPUNI OIL TESTS
Results In “Two Or Three Weeks”
(New Zealand Press Association) j WELLINGTON, September 4. | Conclusive results on whether' there was oil in the Kapuni well were not expected for two or three weeks. Mr J. B. Price, managing director of Shell Oil New Zealand, Ltd., said today. In the meantime he had no fur- : ther information to give on the I series of tests being made. Condensate being extracted, from the “wet” gas at Kapuni No. 1 oil well will be stored in i a 75.000 gallon tank at the New | Plvmouth depot of Shell Oil New Zealand, Ltd., providing the liquid can be pumped satisfactorily. Attempts to pump the ambercoloured oily liquid into a 2000gallon tanker at the site had been unsuccessful .up till early ;-this afternoon, according to the superintendent of the New Plymouth depot. Mr B. Fitzgerald. In the meantime the level of condensate in the 20.000 gallon storage tank at Kapuni is rising fast. The tank was reported to have 12.000 gallons of condensate two days ago but no figures were available today.
