Clocks All Tell The Same Time
A nurse signing on late for duty at Princess Margaret Hospital will not be able to proffer the old excuse: “Please sister, the clock was slow.” The 85 electric clocks throughout the hospital are worked on the “master and slave” principle, each being operated from a master clock in the basement. Every clock, whether in corridor, ward, or departmental office, will therefore show the same time.
Every nurse, as she comes on or goes off duty, must sign a time book in the ward sister’s office. This is an established part of hospital routine, as knowledge whether a nurse was on or off duty at the time of any particular occurrence
may sometimes be required.
