"MUCH BETTER NOW THANK YOU"
AS a patient's condition improves, the better he will be able to appreciate the various facilities in Princess Margaret Hospital which are designed for his comfort and well-being.
Beside his bed he finds a locker, with a cupboard, drawer, and enclosed shelf for personal belongings. Mounted on the wall is a narrow steel wardrobe, with a steel-gauze bottom and slotted top to allow the air to circulate. Other equipment includes a footstool, a chair, and an over-
bed table to hold meal trays, books, writing blocks, and such things.
Curtains on an overhead rail pull around each bed for semiprivacy in four-bed rooms. From the single rooms, double French doors lead on to the balcony, and are wide enough for the bed, on its five-inch castors, to be wheeled out into the sunshine.
Once the patient is up and walking about, or in a wheelchair, he will be able to spend much of the day in the sun-
room, or solarium, at the end of each ward. These are light, airy rooms with large windows facing north-east and northwest to catch the sun all day long, and command a sweeping view of the plains.
They are furnished with small writing tables and cane chairs, small dining tables and tubular-steel chairs for the serving of meals, and also a radio loudspeaker. They should prove a popular place with the convalescing patients. • •
