Mr Tom Mboya. the general secretary of the Kenya Federation °f Labour, has been appointed Party secretary. It is proposed that the new Party should operate throughout the Colony, although this is forbidden under the emergency regulations in the case of African Political parties. In a policy statement issued on August 7 for next year's London talks on Kenya’s constitutional future the Mboya group called for a date to be set for independence. a common electoral roll with Africans having the majority vote; immediate integration of the now exclusively European White Highlands farming area: a ban on further immigration of European farmers; and an end to segregated schooling.
