WELLINGTON ART EXHIBITION
Encouragement By
Minister
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 17.
The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Anderton) said today he sometimes thought not enough was done for art in New Zealand.
He was speaking at the opening of an exhibition of paintings by Annette Isbey, of Auckland, in the Wellington Architectural Centre.
“I am satisfied there is a lack of art teachers and perhaps art schools in New Zealand, possibly because there has not been the urge, but there is no doubt there is a great interest,” said the Minister.
“I think that if there are people who want to express themselves it is good for the community.”
