Use Of Royal Names

Sir, —1 was rather startled to read in today’s issue a heading. “Freighter Collides With Queen Elizabeth.” Why are ships named after royalty? A nautical name would be more appropriate and wotdd prevent confusion, as there is no connexion or similarity between a royal person and a ship. Another instance is the naming of Princess Margaret Hospital. I contend that “Cashmere Hospital" is the correct name, giving its locality. The time is overdue for correction of these irresponsible christenings.—Yours etc., REALITY. July 31, 1959.
