Damage On West Coast
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, July 27. In addition to the major damage the gale at the week-end did earlier to the totalisator house
•at Victoria Park, and to the paraI pet of a garage roof in the town. it did a considerable amount of damage of a lesser nature in various parts of the district. The roof of the outside bar at Victoria Park was loosened, the roof of the Cobden Convent (School’s shelter shed was reI moved, the roof of a Tainui street j residence and the roof of a railway shelter on the Greyfflouth side of the Cobden bridge were (lifted. Trees were uprooted in (exposed positions, fences, gates (and chimneys were blown down, and tiles lifted from a number (of roofs, particularly in the > Holland settllement at Cobden, i The chimney of a residence in Threadneedle street. Greymouth, was blown on to the roof of a neighbouring house. No estimates of the damage done could be made. The wind was still blowing from the east today, but it was much lighter than yesterday.
