GAOL SENTENCE EXTENDED
Prisoner Convicted For Past Fraud iNew Zealana Press Association) NAPIER. July 27. A man who was imprisoned foi I 18 months on June 8 on five charges of false pretences, had t\Co months added to his sentence by Mr W. A. Harlow. S.M.. in the Magistrate’s Court at Napier today. Bruce Sydney Aussie Brown i aged 37, of Napier, pleaded guilty | to a charge of obtaining £5O in cash from the Foxton Racing Club on May 16 by passing a false cheque. Senior Detective-Sergeant A, Reid said the offence happened a few days before the offences for which Brown was imprisoned.
Car Strike Ends.— One of two car strikes causing a major holdup in Britain’s car production ended when 200 paint shop workers at the Austin works at Longbridge. Birmingham, voted to return to work immediately pending negotiations with the management.—London, July 26.
