Otahuhu Freezing Works Stoppage
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. July 27. About 140 men employed in the meat cutting room at Otahuhu freezing works at R. and W. Hellaby, stopped work at 8 a.m. today in protest over the dismissal of two of their members. A spokesman for the company said that a representative of the Freezing Workers’ Union had held discussions with the management. It was understood that the employees concerned would meet tomorrow morning, after which the management anticipated the men would return to work.
