The dismal failure of Cashmere in the Doncaster Handicap at Washdyke on Saturday was the cause of considerable concern to his Wingatui owner-trainer. Mr C. H. Wallis. The Riccarton jockey. C. T. Wilson, who rode Cashmere, was questioned, but could not account for the horse s poor performance. Cashmere had began smartly and was prominent ■ m the running Until the field reached tne half-mile, but from there be gradually drifted right out. • • ' Later in the day the veterinary surgeon reported that in his opinion the horse had suffered a slight attack of colic. - ’
