FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge of high pressure extends over New Zealand from Australia, and. a cold front is crossing the South Island. Forecast:— Nelson.—Light or moderate variable winds; fair moderate afternoon temperatures. Marlborough.—North-wester lies fresh in exposed places at first with fair to cloudy weather; brief change to light or moderate southerlies but with a few showers; northwesterlies becoming fresh again later; cool to moderate temperatures. Outlook Sunday: fair, but rain late in the day. West Coast.—Light to moderate variable winds, mainly cloudy with patches of drizzle or light rain; cool to moderate temperatures. Outlook Sunday: rain. Canterbury.—Moderate south-west winds at first, becoming north-east during the day; showers this morning; fair this afternoon; cool temperatures. Outlook Sunday: fair, morning; showery, afternoon.
