Youth Shot Dead In Accident

(New Zeaiana Press Association; WANGANUI, Judy 3. A lfi-year-old youth was accidentally shot dead on his father’s farm at Pukerino last evening. He was: David Reginald Rhodes, third son of Mr .and Mrs I. C. Rhodes, of Wyndham, Pukerino. A fifth form student at Rangitikei College. David came home from school about 4.15 p.m. and went out' to a nearby paddock with a .410 shotgun, presumably to shoot hawks which had been worrying his ducks. While climbing a fence near a concrete water trough, he apparently slipped and the hammers of toe gun hit the trough, discharging the' gun. He died instantly. Mr Rhodes, on his return to the farm at 5.45 p.m„ found the tidy. David Rhodes was a keen sportsman and it was predicted he would have a big future as a tennis player. He was a prominent member of the Rata Tennis Club. J
