DUMPING OF RUBBISH

Catchment Board Concerned

Concern at the dumping of rubbish in its area was expressed at yesterday’s meeting of the North Canterbury Catchment Board. "The next thing will be we’ll have it dumped on riverbeds,” said Mr A. T Bell. The rubbish was dumped by city people, said Mr H. M. Reid, the board’s chief engineer These people took rubbish out in cars, trailers and anything else they could load it on.

Mr F. L. Wright said that in one area the rubbish was spread over three acres. This rubbish consisted of glass, empty paint tins and even old cars.

Messrs Bell and Wright were appointed to represent tjie board at discussions with the Paparua and Waimairi county councils on the question of dumping rubbish.
