CRITICISM OF MR NASH
“State Problems Neglected’’
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 3. The problems of State were being “seriously neglected” by the Prime Minister (Mr Nash) “dashing hither and thither” about the country, said Mr W. H. Gillespie (Opposition, Hurunui) during the Address-in-RCply debate in the House of Representatives today.
Mr Gillespie said what was equally perturbing to him 'were some of the statements the Prime .Minister had 'made, in particular an allegation that the National Party would bribe its way back to office.
“The, Prime Minister is the right person to talk about bribes,” said Mr Gillespie. “I wonder what he now thinks of his party’s bid to get on to the Treasury benches.” People now knew what manner of man they had as Prime Minister and the next General Election would prove What they thought of him. “The Prime Minister knew what he was doing in the last election when he made promises on behalf of the Labour Party. He knew that if those promises were put into effect, New Zealand’s economy would be plunged into a mess.
“But he thought no price was too great for the people to pay so he could have a turn as Prime Minister,” said Mr Gillespie.
