FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone -ies over eastern Australia with a ridge of high pressure extending to the South Island. A strong westerly airstream lies just south of New Zealand. Forecast:— All districts.—Light or moderate variable winds; some areas of low cloud or fog mainly about the coasts this morning, but the weather predominantly fair to fine; moderate afternoon temperatures away from the coasts. Outlook: some showers likely, chiefly in South Westland, and possibly a few showers developing on the Canterbury coast; otherwise fair to cloudy. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
