COMMERCIAL Sharemarket Quiet But Firm

Recorded turnover of the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday was confined to one parcel of Government stock and fewer than 5000 shares. Australian shares were again comparatively neglected. South British Insurance rose further in business at 76s 6d. William Cable Holdings and Woolworths, m first Christchurch business this week, were also firmer.

Steady prices were paid for E. S. and A. Bank National Mortgage A, Bearing Service Holdings, Beaths, and Kaiapoi Woollens.
