The secretary of W. H. Pries and Son, Ltd., Cecil Hugh Sharr, said in the Supreme Court yesterday that his firm had knewh from the start that Pyramid Machines, Ltd., was a small concern financially but "they seemed to be very wise in knowledge or experience.”
Cross-examined by Mr R. W. Edgley, the witness agreed that he had known at the time the mower contract was signed that his company was dealing with a firm which had virtually no assets. He denied that Price and Son had tried to get a share in the patent right for the Pyramid mower.
Pyramid Machines is claiming £55,623 from Price and Sop, which in turn is counter-claim-ing for £33,227 or alternatively about £46,000.
Sharr, who was cross-examined at length on the defendant’s counter-claim, said that labour costs and overhead expenses incurred in the production of tha mower had been charged at 15s an hour for the first period of production, and £1 an hour for the second period. Material* castings and hydraulic hoses had been charged at eost price plua 10 per ceht.
