Seat Lost By Communists

REYKJAVIK June 30. Mr Ludvik Joseffaon, Communist architect of Icelands controversial 12-mile fishing limit and opponent of Britain in the subsequent dispute, was unseated in the week-end election. In which the caretaker Government appeared to have received an extended mandate. The Communists lost about 20 per cent, of their votes and figures issued last night showed they held seven seats, compared with eight in the last Parliament

The Progressives—whose candidate beat Mr Joseffson—won IS seats. The Independence Party again emerged as the biggest single party with 20 seats.
